Art Thrives, the New Orleans Museum of Art's initiative focused on programming for adults 55 and older, is excited to offer our very first eight-week theater course, Shakespeare Alive! For this course, NOMA and TNP are collaborating in conjunction with our production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Many Americans associate Shakespeare with simply reading and studying his work in school. However, in truth, his work was meant to be seen and heard and enjoyed aloud and in person. In  Shakespeare Alive!, participants will have the opportunity to interact with the Bard the way actors do—by learning to speak verse, apply actions, use vocal technique, and learn about all the hidden clues Shakespeare provides actors within the text.

The course includes a complimentary admission to watch the NOLA Project perform A Midsummer Night's Dream in our sculpture garden, and will conclude with a celebratory performance for friends and family members in which each participant gets time to shine on the stage!

This is an adult acting course for beginners and advanced students. The only things required are a curious mind and an open heart. Please note that financial assistance is available on a limited basis.

Class time is 5–6:30 pm at NOMA on these dates:
