AUDITION NOTICE

Thank you for considering auditioning for TELL IT TO ME SWEET written by Brittany N. Williams and directed by Torey Hayward. We are looking to build a cast of 15 storytellers to perform this adaptation of European and African American tales throughout NOMA's Besthoff Sculpture Garden.

We are particularly interested in casting performers who are involved with other artistic and non-artistic community organizations. We encourage storytellers and artists of all artistic and personal backgrounds to audition. Actors, performers, artists of all and any identity or ability will be considered for all roles.

Audition Window: July 21-August 7 • 10am 

Auditions will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis with all decisions made by August 9th.

 

To submit an audition, complete the form linked below and provide the following:

  • Link to a video that includes:

    • An introduction of yourself (up to 30 seconds)

      • Name, Pronouns

      • What are some of your favorite stories? 

      • What community organizations do you work/engage with or support?

      • Anything else you’d like us to know about you like...where do you call home? What inspires you? Astrological sign? Enneagram number? What communities do you belong to? Something your friends would be surprised to know… Any hidden talents? Unhidden(?) talents? Favorite location in New Orleans? On Earth? 

    • Choose one:

      • 30-second monologue of your choice performed twice/two different ways (60 seconds total)

      • Tell us a story about a time you learned something new (up to 60 seconds) 

        • In your story

          • Make a noise 

          • Use a prop

Rehearsals

  • Rehearsals begin the week of August 13th and will be held at the New Orleans Museum of Art

  • Rehearsals will be held both indoors and outdoors  

  • A more-detailed rehearsal and production schedule will be provided to all performers ahead of the first rehearsal

  • Rehearsals will be held Tuesday-Sunday, however, performers will rehearse no more than three days a week, or a total of 60 hours

  • Rehearsals will be held between 6-10pm on weekdays; 10am-5pm Saturday/Sunday

 

Production Dates

Tech Rehearsal: September 12-16 

Performance Dates:

Sept 17, 19, 22, 26, 29   

Oct 30, 31

Nov 2, 7, 9, 14

*Performances will be held in the evenings between 7-10pm

We aim to hire a 100% vaccinated cast and crew

Pay

All participating storytellers will be paid a $900 fee
