Since 2017, our mission with Rough Draughts has been to help aspiring actors and playwrights become more involved with the New Orleans theatre community while exposing TNP's already adventurous audience to new and unique plays that entertain and engage. WHISTLE IN THE DARK by E.K. Cleary
In 1923 St. Louis, 20-year-old impoverished Vida, accidentally murders her would-be father in law. On the run, she meets fellow outsider Irene, discovering the man she killed happens to be Irene’s adoptive father. The two journey back to St. Louis to clear their names, robbing their way across the Midwest in the process thanks to Vida’s arcane, never-missing gun. As they go, they fall deeper into misfortune and affection for the other, but sooner or later the truth – or justice – will catch up with them both.
